Meg Steps Down From CEO Position

Meg Steps Down From CEO Position

Ten years after Meg Whitman announced it – she did it! She stepped down as CEO and sellers will no doubt swarm the discussion boards today!

John Donahoe will take Meg’s place as CEO beginning March 31st. In a CNBC interview today Donahoe mentioned that there will be changes in pricing and trust and safety issues, among other things. Where does eBay go from here? Just what kind of changes are we going to see here?

Whitman stated that she has known Donahoe for 20 years and had recruited him to eBay approx 3 years ago. Where she knew him from before was unmentioned. His role as CEO was determined by the board (Meg will still have a seat on it) and from the interview, it sounded like it was a very easy decision to make.

In the latter part of the interview, Meg eludes to the idea that with such a slow economy, perhaps those unfortunate people who have lost their jobs can make a living by selling goods on eBay!

If you are a seller, what changes would you like to see in the eBay arena? What about as a buyer?

Shout out and tell us what you think!
